Hankook Tire American Corp., the leading South Korean tire maker, commences commercial tire production Dec. 15th 2017, in Clarksville, Tennessee. The company expects to hire aroud 1,000 employees with upwards of 600 added to the Clarksville payroll in the coming year, and plans to ramp up production by 2018 to the rated capacity of 16,000 units a day.

Hankook said the massive plant is focused on training employees and refining processes, shaping up to be a small city.

“We are currently ramping up tire production at the facility as we hire and train employees,” the company said in a press release. “While the plant is not producing tires for commercial distribution at this time, the plant is operational, and our production ramp-up is tracking with the updated timeline.”

Hankook already supplies tires to Hyndai/Kia Automotive, Ford Motor Co., General Motors Co., and Honda North America Inc.

South Korea’s Hankook Tire Co. invested $800 million to build its first U.S. production plant in Tennessee. The sprawling massive plant which sits on 469 acres expects to have a grand total of up to 1,600 employees in the phase 1 of all four phases and have the capability of producing 22 million tires a year.

In the meantime, Hankook executives appreciate the support of local business and community leaders, and added that the splendid plans to give back to Clarksville-Montgomery County and the surrounding area are in the works.

In actuality, Hankook Tire America Corp. recently supported the Nashville community by donating baby supplies to help impoverished mothers and their children. Employees from the corporation’s American headquarters donated diapers, baby lotion, socks, wipes and other essential needs to at-risk mothers of infants living in the area. Hankook donated over 1,000 items to the drive, which was part of United Way of Metropolitan Nashville’s Titan Up for Tots Community Baby Shower.

The organization gives Hankook Tire America Corp. two thumbs up.

“We appreciate Hankook Tire’s involvement in this drive,” said United Way of Metropolitan Nashville Interim CEO Mary Jo Wiggins, in a press release, “Our community is stronger because companies like Hankook are devoted to its betterment.”
